Microbot Medical to debut new robotic system for endovascular procedures

Microbot Medical, a Hingham, Massachusetts-based healthcare technology company, has announced plans to debut a fully disposable robotic system to be used during neurovascular, cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures.

The LIBERTY robotic system is a first of its kind, according to a prepared statement from Microbot Medical. It can be operated remotely by healthcare providers and was designed to reduce radiation exposure. In addition, it is expected help limit strain on physicians by reducing their workloads.

“LIBERTY is set to revolutionize the way surgical robotics are being used in endovascular procedures, by eliminating the need for capital equipment, reducing radiation exposure and aiming to streamline the use of disposables during these complex procedures,” Harel Gadot, president, chairman and CEO of Microbot Medical, said in its statement. “In addition, with LIBERTY’s remote operation as well as its 'One & Done' capabilities, we believe it has the potential to be the first system to democratize endovascular interventional procedures.”

The company will be unveiling and demonstrating this new solution Jan. 13. The presentation can be accessed on Microbot Medical’s website.
