Coronavirus patient in US treated with stethoscope-wielding robot

The first person diagnosed with the deadly Wuhan coronavirus in the United States is receiving care from a small team of healthcare providers and an advanced robot.

According to CNN, the robot has been using a stethoscope to monitor the patient’s vitals. Its large screen is also being used to improve communication.

The patient, described as a male in his 30s, had recently traveled to Wuhan, China, where the disease originated. He arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Jan. 15, quickly realizing he was experiencing symptoms associated with coronavirus.

After arriving at the hospital in “a special isolated gurney called an ISOPOD,” the patient was placed in a quiet area for treatment. It is still unknown when he may be released, but the CDC has officially recommended additional testing.
