Bed management, enterprise resource planning and financial modeling apps poised for growth

Bed management, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and financial modeling applications are poised for accelerated growth in U.S. hospitals, according to a recent HIMSS Analytics market report.

HIMSS analyzed 26 operational applications being used in hospitals and analyzed their market penetration against their projected sales volumes.

Bed management, ERP and financial modeling technologies emerged as notable opportunities for health IT vendors, as they have mature market penetration status and accelerated projected sales volumes, according to HIMSS Analytics.

“The first-time sales outlook for these three operational applications is grounded in the industry’s ongoing efforts to create a cost-efficient and clinically effective environment,” said Lorren Pettit, vice president of market research for HIMSS Analytics, in a statement. “The fact that the three applications represent varied aspects of a hospital’s operations suggests providers are looking for efficiencies in a multiplicity of ways.”

Sales outlook also is positive for contract management, financial data warehousing/mining and medical necessity checking content applications.
