Former Siemens CMO Donald Rucker to lead ONC

According to a recent string of tweets, Donald Rucker, who served as CMO of Siemens Healthcare for 13 years, will head the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

The newest national coordinator for ONC was reveled on Friday in the HHS directory.  Rucker has a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a business degree from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a computer science degree from Stanford. He has practiced as an ER physician for many years, currently serving as a professor of clinical emergency medicine and biomedical informatics at Ohio State University.

“Congrats! @donrucker new leader of @ONC_HealthIT,” tweeted Farzad Mostashari, MD, founder of Aledale—a start-up that partners with physicians to build and lead accountable care organizations—and former National Coordinator for Health IT. “Do good work, call on the #healthit community, we will support you.”
