Survey finds HIT workers optimistic about job market

Sixty percent of respondents to a survey about the health IT job market are "optimistic" about job opportunities over the next 12 months and another 18 percent are "extremely optimistic."

Those are the findings from the 2015 Healthcare IT Market Report conducted by consulting firm Greythorn. The company surveyed its database of health IT professionals.

Most are happy with both their current job and employer with 86 percent saying they are satisfied or highly satisfied with their current positions and 79 percent saying they would recommend their current employer to others.

Eighty percent of respondents said "satisfaction of a job well done" is their main inspiration to perform in their current role. The majority of full-time health IT workers reported current basic salaries of between $50,000 to $69,999 and $100,000 to $119,999, both at 18 percent each. More than two-thirds (67 percent) of respondents expect a salary increase over the next 12 months of up to 6 percent in their current roles.
