Omni MedSci, a healthcare technology startup, has filed a lawsuit against Apple claiming the company infringed four patents in developing the Apple Watch’s heart rate sensor.

The suit specifically mentions Mohammed Islam, Omni’s founder and CTO, had met with Michael O’Reilly, a medical technology specialist at Apple, and Michael Hillman, Apple hardware manager, to showcase patents based on using light and a receiver module on a wearable device to collect blood measurements. After showing the patents to a team at Apple, communication between the two parties stopped.
