Data and analytics were named the top challenge healthcare executives expect their organizations to face next year.

According to the Healthcare Executive Group (HCEG), members recently voted and ranked the top 10 challenges, issues and opportunities they expect their organizations to face in 2019.

The total top 10 rankings were:

  1. Data & Analytics
  2. Total Consumer Health
  3. Population Health Services
  4. Value-based Payments
  5. The Digital Healthcare Organization
  6. Rising Pharmacy Costs
  7. External Market Disruption
  8. Operational Effectiveness
  9. Opioid Management
  10. Cybersecurity

According to a release, healthcare executives chose the top issues from a list of 25 topics during a forum. The forum also included discussions with attendees and experts to help form the list.

“Selecting and ranking healthcare issues is always a challenge as we are in a very critical and dynamic stage in healthcare,” HCEG Executive Director Ferris Taylor said in a statement. “HCEG plans to further explore the reasoning through facilitated discussions at upcoming events and within the HCEG digital community.”
